Thanks for explaining this in a simple way. I had to argue that a crow (or some other wild bird) eating chicken wasn't cannibalistic. Youtube comments are always fun, am I right? :p

Plus, hasn't anyone ever noticed that hawks, owls falcons and eagles eat other birds like they're going out of style... it's their natural food source...

This post made my morning! My African grey parrot is, as we speak, eating some chicken bone marrow and having a blast! Your way of thinking really put things in perspective for me.

Meddy is currently having the equivalent of a bird filet mignon.

When I first started working with feral chickens, I used "chicken"-flavored dry cat food. They loved it. Once I gave them the remains of a drumstick, and the ensuing feeding frenzy would make Jaws look tame.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the whole notion of "cannibalism" must be a human construct. "Food" is just so damned weird anyway. . . .

Barb-- I could talk about how cat poo has a high protein content and yadadada, but you've already got the training solution covered.

Cat poo breath is the worst though. Blahhhh!
