Great video! I just stumbled on your site today. Love it!
Christa
Thanks, Christa!! I promise the shooting and editing will get better, the videos more informative and that I’ll keep at it. (as long as a few folks like you continue to encourage me — it’s really daunting putting so much of yourself out there — extra 20 pounds and all as well as goofy humor.
)
You’ve given me hope!
My grey is terribly SILENT when someone is near his cage (even me!).
But when covered up, or if the human is in the other room, all kinds of noises, sounds, and calls will occur.
Ty didn’t speak while people were in the room for years. You might find your grey warms up, especially if he gets encouraged to speak while you’re present.
You don’t have to be in the room to capture the behavior though — just hear him…mark the “event” with the word “good” and bring him a treat. You’ll have him offering the behavior while your present in no time.
I liked your video. I am going to order your book here. Greys are awesome bird, I got my grey Louie, a year and half ago from a friend who’s mom passed away, He’s now a little over 2 years old, so I got him at a great time. I am still educating my self and have a long way to go, I am very much a visual person, reading has helped but a good parrot training video would be awesome. I know for a fact I have taught bad behaviors and need a good video to help me undo what I have done. I also have my rescue birds that need a lot of work, sometimes I don’t know if I am making a difference or not.
